Cornell Combines AI and Chemical Vapor Deposition to Advance Nanomedicine
Researchers at Cornell University are using AI and chemical vapor deposition technology to advance nanomedicine manufacturing. The National Science Foundation awarded a $3 million grant to fund the project, an effort which they hope will revolutionize how polymer nanoparticles are manufactured. Polymer nanoparticles are praised as a powerful technology in the medical field because of their extraordinary ability to deliver medicine to precisely the right place at the right time, within the human body. However fabricating polymer nano particles is extremely complex, and this prevents the widespread manufacturing and use of these extraordinary particles. Researchers at Cornell will use an exceptionally sophisticated approach which will consist of synthesizing the polymer nanoparticles using an initiated chemical vapor deposition (iCVD) system and incorporating liquid crystals to leave an optical imprint that is readable by computer vision. The data collected from this procedure will then be used to train an AI that can be used for automated decision making during the nanoparticle assembly process. Learn more here.

Leading South Korean Semiconductor Firm Acquires Cutting Edge Vacuum Curing System
Leading South Korean Semiconductor Firm Acquires Cutting Edge Vacuum Curing System
Leading South Korean semiconductor firm LB Semicon recently purchased a state of the art vacuum curing system from Yield Engineering Systems, Inc.(YES). The VertaCure XP G2 system is YES's newest vacuum curing system and the first of its kind to be installed in South Korea. The system will be used to support a bump/RDL application for wafer-level chip scale packaging (WLCSP). Cutting edge wafer technology continues to evolve and provide greater application scope and value. Consequently, as the semiconductor industry advances, firms must also be able to evolve and innovate to stay competitive. But even though the semiconductor industry is fiercely competitive, executives at LB Semicon are positive that purchasing the latest generation VertaCure XP G2 system will help them gain an edge over the competition while they continue to deliver cutting edge technology.
